So I still love my MagSorc Pet toon, but she's taken some knocks the last few rounds of "balancing" and I am trying to settle on a something to replace her.

I have each class at 50, both mad/stam so all options are open.

I really enjoyed the self sufficiency and ease of play that pet magsorc had, what would be something comparable?

Thinking probably Magblade but I'm pretty open.

I really enjoy my Mag DK. She's been my main since launch and gone through Sword & Board / Bow DPS to Destro/Restro DPS and currently using Destro/Destro, both flame. "Fire Mage?" I enjoy the DK's class skills.

If you love the MagSorc, then you probably do enjoy ranged casters. Mag DK would be a bit if a change to mostly melee, flame DOTs, and just enough ranged debuffs and attacks, mostly through the Destro Staff skill tree.

Cheers.

I'm gonna play around with my magdk and magblade a bit...

Given the posts I was seeing about the changes I was really expecting to see my MagSorc unplayable, but honestly I haven't noticed much of a difference. In general play my pets rarely die, even solo on WB kills.

I will have to try vMS or some harder content, but it still makes easy mode of everything I've been doing.

That's good to hear. I've been wanting to give my magSorc more play time. I'd like to try it in vMA, but my butt still hurts from taking my DK in there. LOL

I still haven't braved vMA but the mechanics are pretty straight forward and nMA is really easy with MagSorc, so I'm hoping once I have the mechanics down I can do a nice east vMA run.

They die pretty easy in vMA now since they changed some stuff and it seems like pets actually don't have any kinds of resistances. So those little attacks just wreck pets now in places like vMA since they can still die there.

Like..stamtoons, pretty much all have the same rotation. We all use rearming trap, endless hail, caltrops, poison injection and rending slashes. Only issue most people have with stam is that we don't have a damage shield so it can get really hairy really quick especially if you don't slot resolving vigor. Stamsorcs may be the exception, but I don't play my stamsorc as much since moving to stamden for pve. Stam is also like all melee as well.

Magblade isn't too bad since it can be played at range as well, but can suck terribly without light attack weaving as that's how they have sustain with siphoning strikes.

MagDK I've noticed a lot more sustain issues this patch so mine has balance slotted now. Technically all magtoons can slot balance as well to help with sustain, but I find I really need it on my magDK without having to sit here and channel 3s heavy attacks just so I don't see my magic bar empty. Ranged magDK can work, but a ton of class skills are melee sooo lol.

Magplar with jabs is melee, but they do have a ranged build that can work as well.

To be honest in terms of return for button pressing, nothing can compare to a heavy lightning attack mag pet sorc. I'm trying some heavy attack builds now, but they didn't seem comparable for other classes.

The big thing about jumping from nMA to vMA. A bunch of stuff that used to hit you for like 5-10% of your health, now can one shot you or take like 80% of your health. The wall level is always the frozen level since the damage significantly ramps up in that arena when going through the first time. Damage seems to ramp up more after that level.

Hunt, like Rylii said the jump from normal to VMA is massive. Best advice I can give you is to get in there! See how you do on round 1 and 2 and go from there. I am not a strong VMA runner but what helped me more.than anything is running simultaneously with someone who knows the run well and on voice (Thanks Colb). It can seem impossible at first but it does get easier each attempt. Once you start going back for your 2nd, 3rd, 10th clears you become much more comfortable. Hit me up if you ever need a hand and our more competent runners are not available.

Appreciate it...I've watched several videos and run it withe the videos on my other monitor, just haven't had time to really sit down and do a run.

Will keep the offer in mind.

Honestly my only interest in trials and such is for achievements and the skins/titles/etc. so it's not a high priority and the bump you get from going to Maelstrom Staff is probably lost on me :-P
