Hello guildfriends! Dan (me) needs (wants) a new computer chair. I can read the Amazon descriptions and reviews, but those don't always tell the whole story. So I'd like to hear what your thoughts and recommendations are. I'm looking for something comfortable, of good quality, and long-lasting. I don't mind spending money for good quality, but I'm not trying to spend a fortune either. I guess I'm looking for a good value. This purchase is pretty important to me, considering how many hours I spend with my ass parked in my chair. Thanks in advance for your help, I appreciate it.

Depending on budget and height, one chair can be great for some and shitty for others.

I'm tall and most chairs do not come up far enough for me to lean my head back, for example, so really your best bet is to go down to the local Office Depot or Max and try em out. It does limit your choices, but I can't imagine buying an office chair I had not sat in.

Weight is another big factor, I am a big guy, so I've had the negative experience of blowing out the air gasket on some of the lightweight chairs, which is a problem :-)

I generally go for something comfortable in the $100-150 range and then expect to replace it every 3-5 years.

Also if you are bigger, the arm rests can be a big issue, another reason to try them out, if there are bars on the arm rest that come down the side of the chair, it can impinge on your legs, which in a heavy person, over long periods, dramatically increases the possibility of DVT.

This is very close to what I am using now...it's actually the second one I've purchased, the first snapped a caster because I am fat, after 2 years, the second has been going strong for 3 years.
